MWS Dry Transport of Etesco Millenium

Client: TRESE S.A. de C.V.
Timeline: 2013

In the fall of 2013, the semisubmersible drilling unit "Etesco Millenium" was in drydock undergoing repairs at Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain.  For various reasons, the owners decided to withdraw the vessel from the shipyard and transfer it to Tuzla shipyard near Istanbul, Turkey.  Due to the partially completed work, the vessel could not safely be towed to the new location.  Instead, it was loaded onto a heavy lift vessel for the transit.

Global Maritime was requested by TRESE to serve as the Marine Warranty Surveyors for the move.

A Global Maritime surveyor was on hand in the shipyard to assist with the preparations.  He reviewed the procedures and verified that all preparations were completed properly prior to beginning operations, and then witnessed the removal of the "Millenium" from dock and floatover onto the "Osprey".  The final step was to witness and inspect the seafastening of the "Millenium" to secure it for transport.

The transit from Spain to Turkey was completed without incident.  On arrival, the Global Maritime surveyor was again present to inspect preparations and witness the offloading of "Etesco Millenium" and see that it was safely moored at the destination.
