Global Maritime increase floating wind sector dominance with EFGL contract

Global Maritime is pleased to announce the award of the Marine Warranty contract for the Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du lion (EFGL) project.

The EFGL Project is developed through a project company owned by Ocean Winds and Banque des Territoires (groupe Caisse des Dépôts), in charge of its development, construction and future Operation & Maintenance. Located off the coast of Leucate-Le Barcarès, in the French Mediterranean Sea, it has begun construction and has just signed all the contracts for financing the project. The EFGL project will utilise the 3rd generation of Principle Power’s semi-submersible foundation, which includes various innovative technology.

Global Maritime will provide Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) across all aspects of the construction phase inclusive of foundation, WTG and Inter array and export cables.

This latest project builds upon Global Maritime’s unrivalled track record in the floating wind sector providing specialist & owners engineering, detailed design, Third Party Verification, integrated geoscience, marine assurance as well as the full range of Marine Warranty Survey.

“We are very proud to be involved in this milestone project ” stated Tanmay Sarkar – Global Lead for Marine Warranty “Floating wind is an extremely important market for us. We are looking forward to working closely with RTE & Ocean Winds and utilising our 40+ years’ experience in design, value engineering and marine assurance of floating assets to ensure project risks are properly managed.”

“Based on its experience in this field, particularly on the WindFloat Atlantic project, Ocean Winds is implementing the appropriate procedures to ensure that the construction phase of the EFGL project runs properly”, said Frédéric Flaus, EFGL Project Director. “The type of involved operations on our Project is quite specific versus bottom fixed offshore wind projects, and as such, the selection of an experienced service provider such as Global Maritime for the Marine Warranty Surveyor mission contributes to our goal of making the EFGL project a benchmark in risk management.”
