Global Maritime Consultancy Ltd has successfully completed the Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) scope for Ocean Winds second floating wind farm, supporting during summer 2025 the transport and installation of three floating wind turbines (FWTs) for the floating offshore wind project “Les Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion” (EFGL), located in the Mediterranean Sea, off the south coast of France.
Global Maritime Completes MWS Scope for all major marine installations activities for Ocean Winds’ EFGL floating offshore wind farm
The EFGL development marks a significant milestone for floating offshore wind in Europe, comprising three 10 MW floating wind turbines and delivering a total capacity of 30 MW. The project stands as one of France’s first commercial‑scale demonstrations of floating wind technology, powering approximately 50,000 homes and businesses every year in green electricity for 20 years. Located 16 km off the Mediterranean coast, EFGL is expected to avoid around 46,000 metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions globally.
Global Maritime’s scope of work included the independent review, approval, and oversight of all major marine operations to ensure safe and compliant execution. This covered the launch of the turbines’ foundations, integration of the Wind Turbine Generator’s components, and transport and installation of three floating wind turbines, as contracted by EFGL, as well as the transport and installation of the offshore export cable for Réseau de Transport d’Électricité (RTE).
