A key challenge of the project was to undertake this assessment based on the development of a generic catamaran vessel (acting as Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV)) replicating a unique high-speed air-cushioned arrangement. Third party software Orcaflex was utilised to create hydrodynamic models and our inhouse Event Simulation software, OPSIM, was utilised to perform the calculation of the Gangway motion between two moving bodies. In this study, GM Opsim was used to determine the statistical distribution of availability of the different transfer scenarios for crew transfer operations at the Browse fields.

GM Opsim is an in-house software tool designed for event-based simulations to support operational decision-making. It enables users to model, simulate, and evaluate the stages, schedules, resources, and limiting factors of operations. GM Opsim can run simulations tens of thousands of times, if needed, to generate a robust statistical database.
